Was it really so good in the old days? At The Netherlands' Freilichtmuseum visitors gain deep insights into the lives of the early moor farmers, ride on the narrow-gauge railway or go by boat through the idyllic 't Aole Compas und Bargermond museum villages and visit a real peat mine. At the village shop typical products of the early 20th Century are displayed in the shelves, at the bakery the clay oven is fired up and you can look over a shoulder of a wooden clogmaker at work. In short: visitors feel transported back 100 years.
