Van-Gogh-Huis

Due to renovation work, the Van Gogh House will be closed until mid-June.

Vincent van Gogh (1853-1890) lived in Drenthe for three months, two of which he spent at Hendrik Scholte's guest-house in Nieuw-Amsterdam. Part of the guest-house has regained its former glamour through conversion and is now a café/restaurant in the style of the 1880s. This also applies to the room in which van Gogh painted his pictures in those days. The Van Gogh House is the only publicly accessible house in The Netherlands where van Gogh lived and worked. Here a look into his studio or a film can make visitors feel as if they have been transported back to the painter's time in autumn 1883.
