Emsland Moormuseum

The Moor between the conflicting priorities of nature and technology! In two modern exhibition halls maps, film documents, machines and artistic enactments interestingly and knowledgeably provide information about the hard lives of the first settlers up until industrial peat extraction with the world's largest plough. A wooden plank road runs into the raised bog in the 30 hectare outdoor area. Old domestic species of animal are kept in the Siedlerhof, and regional products are served in the museum café.

Since 2008 there has been the national Junior Ranger Programme to get children interested in nature and engage their active support. There is also an active group of Junior Rangers in the Emsland Moor Museum.

The narrow-gauge railway line on the outdoor area of the museum is just under 3 kilometres long. With its connections to a number of stops, plank roads over the raised bog, a rewetting area and additional information stations...
